HELP FORMER FOSTER YOUTH

by Sycamores

Andrea Letamendi

In LA County alone, more than 1,100 young people “age-out” of foster care each year, losing many resources and support systems.

Sadly, the odds are stacked against them. At least 1-in-5 will experience homelessness and about one-fourth will end up in jail. Together we can make a difference at this critical stage in their lives. As they pursue their education and master the life skills needed for a successful independent adulthood, they need help with the basics.

Please join me and help to provide food, shelter, clothing and other essentials for these young adults in need. Thank you!

In LA County more than 1,100 young people “age-out” of foster care each year. The transition to adulthood is difficult. Unlike their peers, who often receive financial help and emotional support from family, former foster youth struggle with economic insecurity, housing instability, and social isolation.

The odds are stacked against them, but your donation can help change their path at this critical stage in life.

Hathaway-Sycamores provides housing and support services to assist recently emancipated foster youth who suffered from unstable childhoods; often including neglect, abuse and drug addiction. Government funds cover many of the costs to run this program, but there is an annual gap of over $3,200.00 needed for each resident. That balance is raised through private sources.

Your gift in any amount makes a difference!

Consider this:

A gift of $43 buys a 30-day Metro pass.
A gift of $75 pays for the utilities for one apartment for half of a month.
A gift of $125 buys food for a month for one young adult.
A gift of $516 buys Metro passes for one person for an entire year.

Thank you for your consideration and support!
